About Us:
The Okotoks Oilers are a premier junior hockey team competing in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL). Our organization is dedicated to fostering athletic excellence and sportsmanship while providing a supportive and dynamic environment for our players. We are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Certified Athletic Therapist to join our team and help ensure the health and performance of our athletes.
Position Overview:
As a Certified Athletic Therapist with the Okotoks Oilers, you will play a crucial role in the overall health and well-being of our players. You will be responsible for providing comprehensive athletic training services, including injury prevention, assessment, and rehabilitation— while working closely with coaches, medical staff, and players to maintain peak performance and support recovery.
Key Responsibilities:

Injury Prevention & Management: Implement injury prevention strategies, conduct player assessments, and provide immediate care for injuries during practices and games.

Rehabilitation: Develop and oversee rehabilitation programs for injured players, including therapeutic exercises, manual therapy, and other modalities.

Medical Coordination: Collaborate with team physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of player injuries, treatments, and progress reports.

Education: Educate players and staff on injury prevention, conditioning, and wellness practices.

Game & Practice Support: Be present at all team practices, games, and travel with the team as needed to provide on-site medical support.
Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Therapy, Sports Medicine, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.

Certification: Certified Athletic Therapist (CAT(C)) designation or equivalent. Current CPR/AED certification is required.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Athletic Therapist, preferably in a sports or hockey setting.

Skills: Strong knowledge of injury assessment, rehabilitation techniques, and preventative strategies. Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Attributes: Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate professionalism, and handle confidential information with discretion.
